Egg mayonnaise sandwich label example

Egg mayonnaise is egg twice if you use both boiled egg and egg mayonnaise, and mustard comes with most mayonnaises. Emphasise egg every time it appears, plus wheat in the bread and milk if you butter it.

Wheat bread, egg, mayonnaise (egg, mustard), butter (milk), cress, salt.

Eggs — boiled egg and mayonnaise
Mustard — mayonnaise
Wheat — bread
Milk — butter

What this teaches

Emphasise egg in both ingredients. Cress is not an allergen and does not need emphasis.

Is this PPDS?

Pre-packed egg sandwiches in a chill cabinet are PPDS. State the name clearly — egg mayonnaise sandwich is a name, not an ingredients list.

List each ingredient and emphasise egg every time it appears, in the egg and in the mayonnaise.

What if I use vegan mayonnaise?

Then the filling egg remains, and the mayonnaise’s allergens change — often to soya. Do not keep mustard on the label if that tub has none.
