Carrot cake PPDS label example
Carrot is not an allergen. A carrot cake packed in slices still needs wheat, egg and, if you frost it, milk. Walnuts are a separate decision: if they are on the cake, emphasise walnuts.

Ingredients (teaching narrative)
Wheat flour, carrot, eggs, sunflower oil, sugar, cream cheese (milk), butter (milk), walnuts.

What this teaches
A walnut-free slice cannot wear the walnut label, and a walnut slice cannot wear the plain one.
Is this PPDS?
Slices in boxes or bags before the customer chooses them are PPDS. A slice cut to order from an open cake is often not.
Questions
Is carrot an allergen?
No. Carrot is not one of the 14.
Does cream-cheese frosting contain gluten?
Not from the cheese. The sponge usually contains wheat. Icing sugar is not gluten unless the pack says otherwise.
